Hong Kong defends plans for COVID-19 health codes that will limit people's movements

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee has defended plans to introduce a new coronavirus health code that will limit the movement of some people. He said the measure will be used for pandemic purposes only. The system has been likened to traffic lights. A green code means residents are free to move around. Yellow means partial restrictions, while red means a complete restriction of movement. The colours will appear on the city’s “Leave Home Safe” app. Residents under home quarantine will also be required to wear tracking wristbands from Friday.
